Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • NIFTEE stands for National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination, conducted by NTA for admission to NIFT programmes.

  • The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

  • Yes. Students appearing for their Class 12 board exams in 2026 are eligible to apply for undergraduate programmes.

  • UG Programmes: Age limit applies (as per official prospectus)

  • Drawing is mandatory only for B.Des and M.Des candidates through the Creative Ability Test (CAT).

    • GAT: Computer-based (Online)

    • CAT & Situation Test: Offline (Pen-and-paper / Practical)

  • Yes, candidates can apply for multiple programmes by paying the applicable additional fee.

    • Shortlisted candidates are called for Situation Test (UG) or Personal Interview (PG)

    • Final merit list is prepared based on combined scores

  • NIFT has 17 campuses across major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, and others.

Overview of NIFT Exam

NIFT - National Institute of Fashion Technology - is India’s premier fashion, design, technology & management institute established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles. It offers top-tier fashion education and is globally recognised for creativity, industry connect and academic excellence.

Entrance Test
Admission into NIFT programmes is through the NIFT Entrance Examination (officially called NIFTEE – National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Important Dates :

  1. Registration open : 08 December 2025

  2. Last Date (Without Late Fee) : 06 January 2026

  3. Last Date (With Late Fee ₹5,000) : 07 – 10 January 2026

  4. Correction Window : 12 – 14 January 2026

  5. Exam Date (NIFTEE) : 08 February 2026

  6. Admit Card Release : To be notified

  7. Results : To be announced (Usually Mar–Apr)

  8. Situation Test / PI : After results (May/June)

  9. Final Seat Allotment & Counselling : Mid-Year (Jun–Aug)

Undergraduate (UG):

  • Bachelor of Design (B.Des)

  • Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech)

  • NIFT Lateral Entry Admissions (NLEA)

  • Artisans Category (for B.Des)

Eligibility Criteria (Key Points) :

Undergraduate (B.Des, B.F.Tech)
1. Passed 10+2 or equivalent from recognised board
2. Final year students also eligible to apply

How to Fill NIFT 2026 Application Form :

Step 1: Go to the Official Portal : https://exams.nta.nic.in/niftee/

Step 2: New Registration

Click “New Registration”

  1. Enter basic details:

    • Full Name

    • Date of Birth

    • Email ID

    • Mobile Number

    2. Create a secure Password

    3. Note down the Application Number generated — you will need this to log in later

Step 3: Complete the Application Form

Login using your:

  • Application Number

  • Password

Fill in:
✔ Personal details
✔ Address details
✔ Programme preference (UG/PG etc.)
✔ Exam city preferences
✔ Academic details (Class10, Class12, Degree)

Step 4: Upload Documents

✔ Recent Coloured Photograph
Signature
✔ Category certificate (if applicable)
✔ PwD certificate (UDID) if applicable

Follow exact format and size rules prescribed in the Information Bulletin — failing to do so could lead to rejection

Step 5: Fee Payment

Pay the application fee online using:

  • Credit / Debit Card

  • Net-banking

  • UPI/Online Wallets

💰 Application Fees (Indicative) — confirm on official site:

  • General/OBC(EWS)/NCL: ~₹2000

  • SC/ST/PwD: Lower concession fee (~₹500)
    (Note: Multiple programmes may change fee)

Step 6: Final Submission

✔ Review all details
✔ Submit the form
✔ Take a printout of the confirmation page for future use
