Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions

TNEA is a centralized online counseling process conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai. it is the single-window system for admission to B.E. and B.Tech courses in over 440+ government, government-aided, and self-financing engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu, including the prestigious Anna University campuses (CEG, MIT, and ACT).

  • Official Notification Release: Late April 2026

  • Online Registration Starts: 1st Week of May 2026

  • Last Date to Apply & Upload Docs: 1st Week of June 2026

  • Random Number Allotment: 2nd Week of June 2026

🎓 Eligibility & Nativity Rules

  • No Entrance Exam: Admission is based on the normalized PCM marks of Class 12.

  • Academic Criteria: Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  • Minimum Marks: * General Category: 45% average in PCM.

    • BC / BCM / MBC / DNC / SC / SCA / ST: 40% average in PCM.

  • Nativity:

    • Candidates who studied from Class 8 to 12 in Tamil Nadu do not need a nativity certificate.

    • Tamil Nadu natives who studied outside the state must provide a digitally signed e-Nativity Certificate.

    • Other state candidates who studied Class 8 to 12 in Tamil Nadu are also eligible.

  • Age Limit: Minimum 18 years; Maximum 25 years (relaxed for reserved categories).

Your rank is determined by a merit score out of 200, calculated as follows:

💰 Application Fee

  • General / OBC / BCM / MBC: ₹500

  • SC / SCA / ST (belonging to Tamil Nadu): ₹250

  • Special Reservation (Sports/Ex-Servicemen/PwD): ₹100 additional per category.

📂 Counseling Process (PAAR System)

  1. Online Registration: Create a profile at tneaonline.org.

  2. Certificate Upload: Upload mark sheets and community certificates for online verification.

  3. Random Number: A 10-digit number is assigned to break ties that persist after checking PCM marks and DOB.

  4. Rank List: Based on your 200-mark cutoff, an overall and community rank is issued.

  5. Choice Filling: During your assigned round, you list your preferred colleges and branches.

  6. Tentative Allotment: You must confirm your seat within 2 days by choosing "Accept & Join" or "Accept & Upward."
