Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)
JEE Main 2026 Overview
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct JEE Main 2026 for admissions into top engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. The exam is held twice a year (session 1 in January & session 2 in April) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Must have passed or be appearing in 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized board.
Subjects Required: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects in 10+2.
NIOS & Diploma Holders: Eligible to apply. NIOS students should select their state of eligibility in the application.
Age Limit: No age limit specified by NTA, but candidates must meet the age requirements of the institute they wish to join
Application Process
Registration: Enter basic details such as name, guardian’s details, contact number, and email ID.
Fill Application Form: Provide academic information and exam center preferences.
Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable).
Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online via credit/debit card, UPI, or net banking
Exam Pattern
Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Duration: 3 hours
Sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
Question Types:
Section A: 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) per subject
Section B: 10 Numerical Value Questions per subject (attempt any 5)Marking Scheme: +4 for correct answer, -1 for wrong answer in MCQs; no negative marking for numerical type questions.
Total Questions: 90 (30 per subject; 25 to be attempted per subject)
Languages: English, Hindi, and other regional languages

JEE Advanced is the second and final stage of the Joint Entrance Examination. It is conducted by one of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis.
Purpose: JEE Advanced is the sole criterion for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These institutions are highly regarded for their engineering education and research.
Eligibility: Only students who qualify based on their JEE Main rank are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. There are also criteria related to performance in the Class 12 board exams.
Subjects: Similar to JEE Main, JEE Advanced also tests students on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. However, the questions are generally more challenging and require a deeper understanding of concepts and problem-solving skills.
Format: JEE Advanced consists of two papers, both of which are mandatory. The format can vary slightly each year but typically includes a mix of question types, including multiple-choice questions with single or multiple correct options, numerical value questions, and sometimes comprehension-based questions.
Significance: Admission to the coveted IITs is based exclusively on the rank secured in JEE Advanced.
